Kestrel Update
This
kestrel was photo-graphed awaiting a ring on its ankle, it was then a fluffy
chick albeit with a threatening beak and deadly talons. Here 4 weeks later it
can be seen surveying the land from the vantage point of an electricity pole it
with its fellow nestling. They have become reasonably accomplished fliers,
although still dependent on their parents to bring them food.
They
have not strayed far from the security of their nest box, at dusk they are
usually roosting in the tree that contains the box.
As soon as they were able to fend for themselves, their parents
chased them away from their patch to find themselves a territory.
